Location: A spacious three bedroom at Aloyisius Arms. Though there are only two residents, Jude has never been short on cash thanks to her monumental trust, so it seemed completely reasonable to shell out the extra money for another bathroom. Besides, she wanted a study. For the most part, her flat is a lot cozier than people might expect from a hard-ass like Judith, but she’s actually quite the nester when she thinks she might stay for a while.

She’s not exactly cuddly. She’s been compared to a cactus, the Grinch, Peeves, and most recently, an ice cold bitch. She was raised with too few rules, and retaliated by micro-organizing her life to the smallest, most unimportant detail. She craves structure, security, and focus. However, in a lot of ways she’s still just a spoiled kid who doesn’t have anyone telling her what to do. So despite her sever anal retentiveness, she’s also a huge catalyst of chaos. She needs not only to be in control, but to have a healthy slew of discord to rebel against. For some reason, this seems to push people away.

During her school days, she was a loose firecracker. She read up on rules just to find more creative ways to break them. She got so good at detention that the caretaker actually started to be fond of her. However, she also never missed an oppourtunity to over achieve. If there was ever a choice between fun and study, she chose the latter every time, and she absolutely hasn’t changed in that regard.

Her way of attempting to socialize is juvenile at best, usually involving mocking little insults and long winded jokes. Frankly, she’s a lot better at making enemies than friends, but she tends to find her enemies a lot more fun than her friends. She lives for snarky banter, and if she can find someone who dishes as well as she does, she considers them to be alright. To be honest, most of her friends don’t really realize that they’re her friends. They just think she’s some daft bird with a loud mouth. Of course, when she really befriends someone, it’s different. She’ll stick by her true friends through anything. Beyond ambition, beyond petty fights, and (to be frank) beyond reason. Hufflepuffs are loyal and true, right? Well, this one is a Hufflepuff. She may not be the sweetest, but she’s strong and heart-wrenchingly devoted.

One thing that should be known about Judith, though, she cannot stand to lose. If she isn’t the best at something, she either makes the time to improve, or she quits. There are no other options.

Jude is the second and final child that her birth parents had together.

Sylvia-Anne and Zacharias met in school and hit it off immediately. They started dating shortly after Zacharias finished school, and kept on dating after Sylvia-Anne graduated four years later. This age difference was acceptable in large part due to the fact that both sets of parents, while not openly anti-muggle, were pleased that their child was courting a pure-blood. Zacharias had ideas early on about getting married and having a traditional family, but Sylvia-Anne (being both headstrong and opinionated) would hear nothing of it. Because he loved her immensely, and because he always thought she’d change her mind, they lived in a marriageless relationship for several years, sharing a small flat in Hogsmead. Naturally, both of their parents were scandalized.

After a few years, Sylvia-Anne announced to her family that she was expecting a child. This, of course, was slightly more shocking that two young people sharing a home. However, after several years of solid partnership, Sylvia-Anne still would not commit her love to law. A few months later, Regis was born. A mere year after that, Judith was born. They were very happy for a little while, and stayed together seven years after Jude was born. Unfortunately, after countless years of not-marriage, their differences became too much for them. After much debate and careful consideration, Regis and Judith were sent to stay with Nana and Papa Smith, with whom they lived for a year and a half. Though Nana and Papa Smith did have some household rules, they were very lax. And meanwhile both of the children’s parents turned into competitive doters.

Though Zacharias had loved Sylvia-Anne dearly, she was not his last stop on his quest for true love. Two years after his not-divorce, he married Jenny Jameson (who both children knew to have been a special friend of their father’s for some time). Shortly prior to their marriage (at which point the children were nine and ten respectively), the two younger Smiths moved back in with their father. Roughly a year after the wedding, Kaleb (known by Jude as “the one who isn’t a bastard”) was born. Around the same time, Sylvia-Anne moved in with her current boyfriend Gary Ellis (who was nice, but sometime smelled funny). Gary and Sylvia-Anne had always gotten on well, and had been in the same house and year in school, so the two of them shacking up surprised no one. As far as the adults were concerned, everything worked out as it should.

Of course, the children had a slightly different perspective. Though Regis didn’t particularly like the new spouses (or in their mother’s case, not-spouse), he seemed to take the whole transition rather well. Though he was only a year older than Jude, he seemed to be generally more put together and equipped to deal with conflict. Jude took it less well. Though the not-divorce did stir up some feelings of abandonment, her real acting out didn’t really start until Kaleb was born. At that point, all bets were off. Since the birth of Kaleb, she’s done a lot of bouncing between her two parents. Though Regis seemed fairly content in the Smith house with the New Smiths, she only seemed to be able to reside there for a few months at a time before Jenny and Zacharias would decide her tantrums were “too much to handle.” So she spent a lot of her time over the years living with Nana and Papa Smith.

Her story essentially boils down to this: from the time she was ten, she has been a menace. Sometimees on accident, but mostly on purpose. Even time away from home at Hogwarts did little to sooth her need for constant validation. Luckily, she was able to find a little bit of that validation in a pair of doting boys. One, a shameless flirt who she both detested and loved, and the other a dorky boy with an amazing sense of humour. Brandon (the flirt) and Niles (the lovable dork) were probably her closest friends in school, but she’s not certain that either of them are aware of that.

After school, she immediately began pursuing law. She knows full well that’s she’s clever enough to do what ever she wants, but for now what she wants is power. She’s been working her ass off at school, and she knows full well that she’ll eventually be a member of the Wizengamot and Advisor to the Minister. She would never want to be the Minister herself, but she’s no fool. She knows where the influence comes from.

Though she’s downright tame compared to what she used to be (she has to behave if she wants to get ahead), she’s still a handful. If you see her coming your way, I guarantee you want to watch your back.

How does your character feel about Wiztech? She’s a little pissed that she wasn’t involved, to be honest. She and Niles had been tinkering with magic mirrors for a while trying to figure out how to make wizard telly, and they never did manage it. However, she does take some solace in the fact that her name for the wizard telly had a lot more zip. She and Niles were planning on calling it “Spellovision.”

What are three things you would like to do with your character over the course of the game?
- Despite everything, Judy is a secret romantic. She’s been charmed senseless by Niles for years and she’s never said a single thing about it. In fact, when they met, he thought she was gay. And she never corrected him. She’s still not sure if he knows that she likes boys let alone him, and sometimes it drives her a little mad that he sleeps only a bedroom away and there’s nothing going on.
- If she had a classmate to interact with, she would give them hell. She wants to be the best at any cost, including knocking down those who stand in her way.
-If she were honest with herself, she’d admit that she’s probably meant to invent things. She tinkers in her spare time, but I’d like to see her stumble onto something brilliant. Of course, she never seems to have time anymore.
